Native planting

On Tuesday the 15th of September our class got an opportunity to go down lake Nagatu and help plant native plants with bushlands trust summit forest what were planting were Manuka,Kanuka,harakeke/Flax,Ti kouka/cabbage tree, karaka and houpara. When we all arrived the people from bushlands trust talked about what were doing they also talked about some other things about the lake,As they were talking the area we were planting in was a public space where people can go for walks. Then after talking about what we are doing we all went to go and get shovels to dig holes for the plants then we were stuck into it most of us were at the top of the hill then some in the middle and me and my friends were at the bottom working our way up.After couple minutes most of the plants were planted and we planted around 800 in 20 or 30 minutes then every one started to take little breaks going to the bathroom drink of water and then going back to work. After a few more minutes we were finshed we lined up in front of the truck and took a group photo then we had a little treat from our teacher after our treat we had to go and give a big thanks to bushlands trust and summit forest. Then before we had to go eat our lunch we had to wash our hands then go eat then we went back to school and i felt great about that because we were giving back to the environment.
